Business model

Vireo Energy is an investor in renewable energy projects, primarily within bioenergy (ie generating energy from organic sources). Our business model is to develop, own and operate small to medium scale electricity and heat plants fired by biogas as well as projects that utilize solid biomass, such as small scale Combined Heat and Power (CHP) or agro-pellets.

With the financial support of the Kinnevik Group as major owners, we have the ability to fully fund projects and can offer a ‘full package’ solution for owners who have a waste organic stream that needs to be handled. Alternatively we are open to joint venture models with owners of substrates. Typically our counterparties in such projects are municipalities, waste companies, industrial companies and even agricultural collectives.
